Week Two

Class,

I have added three presentations on Mills, Hospers, and Nielsen.  Review the instructions for each presentation.  For Mill I have generated the basic (very basic) outline of a presentation and have asked you to reply to my two essays.  This will be the standard format for student presentations.  But Hospers and Nielsen's essays, I have asked you to put together the pieces of the presentation by selecting one of the components (summary, analysis, opinion, or question) to practice your own ability to write and think these categories.  If students are still struggling with comprehension use the question section to ask questions of the instructor or other students about the essays or reading.  If you have any questions, feel free to call me during my office hours this week.  I out on Monday but will be in the rest of the week.

The major themes I want you to consider are how we make decisions (such as utilitarianism), what we need to flourish (liberty), and what kind of civic system best serves these purposes (socialism or capitalism).  Remember, these are not due until the end of week two.  I will be grading week one postings throughout the week as well.
