Welcome

Important: Before you continue, this site does not become "live" until Monday, August 27.  The instructor will be updating the syllabus and making some cosmetic changes between now and then.  If you can see the site, please know that things will change before Sunday midnight!!!

Welcome to Social Ethics PHL 2181-02 online.  What you need to do right away is read and print the syllabus.

To navigate in D2L you will use the tabs at the top, particularly "Content," "Discussion," "Quizzes," and "Drop Box."

To locate the syllabus go to "Content" and under "Week One" you will see the pdf file titled "Syllabus."  If you need to download adobe reader click this link for the free download.

Then go to "Discussion," "Week One," and select "Introductions" and compose a message.  My introduction is pinned as a first example, but compose your own.  Follow the instructions.

Next, select a presentation from our textbook that you would like to present.  Track A and B students need to select two.  Track C can select one.  You will compose a message under the corresponding essay with your name indicating which essay you desire.  Write it down in your personal calendar so you know when these presentations need to be posted (on Monday at the beginning of the week by noon CST).  I encourage students to select essays with which they may or may agree.  Knowing why other think differently is a significant part of holding an informed position.

Finally, review the list of Service Learning partners (hyperlink on the left side of this blog) and post on the corresponding forum in "Discussions" which one you have selected.  That's it for week one.

If you have any questions you can reach me at my office: 612-659-6457 or email: Ruthanne.Crapo@minneapolis.edu.  I respond to student questions within 24 hours.  Blessings to all as we begin.
